Calgary Food Tours

We want to take you out of your ordinary routine for the day so you’ll have a mini-break and a bit of an adventure. You’ll explore Calgary in a way you never have. We know the tastiest neighbourhoods. We are friends with chefs and food business owners and we’ll connect you with our favourites. Our Inglewood’s Edible Enticements and Urban Hike for the Uptown Appetite get you out of your car and exploring the hidden treasures of these neighbourhoods on foot.

We are also proud of Calgary’s ethnic diversity and have developed three tours to showcase some of them. The International Intrigue is a deluxe tour with a private bus that explores Asian, South Asian, Middle Eastern, Italian, German, Dutch, Swiss, Austrian, and North, Central, and South American influences in our city. The Celebration of Chinatown tour highlights the 100 plus years of Canadian Chinese in Calgary with interpretation of art and architecture, discovery of artifacts and of course Chinese food, tea and goodies. A Passage to India takes participants to “Little India” for a sumptuous buffet, shopping for staples and then a private hands-on class with Indian cooking legend, Mrs. Noorbanu Nimji of www.aspicytouch.com fame.

We are also pleased to be the organizers of City Palate Magazine’s Annual Foodie Tootles tours to farms near Calgary. As a long time Slow Food supporter, and former steering committee member, owner Karen Anderson has far reaching friendships with Alberta’s good, clean and fair food producers and farmers. Each year she carefully selects an itinerary for the tours that highlights the abundance of produce in Alberta and the dedicated farmers and food artisans behind those products. We usually visit 3 farms or businesses, taking time to tour the operation and getting to know the farmer or food artisan. Meals for the day are carefully planned to showcase Alberta’s bounty.

All Calgary Food Tours can include the following elements:
• tasting a variety of food and beverages – some of the tours can include a full lunch or dinner with wine and
some are more about covering a lot of territory and tasting along the way
• introductions to food producers, artisans, business owners and chefs
• cooking demos
• recipes and important information on ingredients
• participants always receive a gift and sometimes valuable discounts.
