UnTour Shanghai: Oodles of Noodles – Shanghai, China

A foodie’s dream, this tasting tour shows you Shanghai’s culinary underworld of noodle joints that have a cult-like following. Each stop showcases the city’s best mom and pop noodle shops – from homemade wheat noodles smothered in a delicious sesame sauce to knife-cut noodles in a simmered beef broth. Columbus Food Adventures: Coffee Tour – Columbus, Ohio

Columbus is a great city for the coffee-lover. The availability of well-sourced and meticulously roasted beans is impressive, and the deep knowledge of coffee preparation found at our better purveyors amounts to a tremendous wealth of useful information waiting to be tapped.

And so, with that, we are proud to present our Coffee Tour. The format is simple: we’ll visit a roaster to learn about what goes into turning raw coffee beans into something exquisite, a top espresso bar to discuss turning those beans into top quality espresso drinks, and a premier coffee shop to learn about how to get the best from your beans at home. At each stop there will be coffee and snacks, and – most importantly – plenty of information on how to get the best out of home coffee preparation!

Our first stop will be Cafe Brioso downtown where we will discuss espresso drinks and learn more about the art of the barista from their talented team. Our second stop will be at the roasting facility at Stauf’s where we will get a behind the scenes look at the art and science of roasting. We will also do a cupping and learn about how coffees are sourced and selected. Our final stop will be at Luck Bros in Grandview to hear from Andy Luck about how to improve your coffee making at home.

This tour runs quarterly.  The tour includes transport, coffee samples, and food and some coffee beans to take home.

Columbus Food Adventures: Meat-Lover’s Tour – Columbus, Ohio

Columbus has a lot to offer the carnivore, and not just in the form of its juicy burgers and famous sausages. On our Meat Lover’s Tour, we’ll encounter one of the most creative chefs in the city using farm fresh cuts and innovative preparations, a pair of ethnic cuisines displaying novel uses for a wide range of proteins, and a smokehouse with a long history of preparing European-style smoked and cured meats. This event is (self evidently?) far from vegetarian friendly and is a delicious overview of some of the most delicious carnivorous delights to be found in the city!

Our stops include:
- Skillet – The darling of Columbus foodies, Skillet is about far more than just breakfast! Chef Caskey will take the opportunity to display his brilliance with protein preparations and talk about some of his favorite cuts.
- Thurn’s – A behind the scenes look at this hundred plus year old business in which an astounding variety of meats and sausages are cured and smoked according to traditional European and family recipes.
- Apna Bazaar – This unassuming Pakistani market hides an exceptional restaurant where we will see, first hand, how they use the art of tandoor cooking to prepare delectably moist and tender kebabs.
- San Su – At this Korean restaurant, we’ll experience two types of traditional beef dishes, prepared in the Korean BBQ style.

Columbus Food Adventures: Dessert Tour – Columbus, Ohio

Join us on this van-based tour featuring some of the best desserts in Columbus. This dessert tour will start at the acclaimed Pistacia Vera in German Village, visit the new Sugardaddy’s downtown Columbus location to sample some of their sumptuous brownies and blondies, stop to learn about artisan roasted coffee at Cafe Brioso and then head north to the Pattycake bakery in Clintonville. Of course, no dessert tour of Columbus would be complete without Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream, so we will visit their new Clintonville location to try some of their newest seasonal flavors. Finally, we’ll finish our special holiday food tour with a fabulous dessert cocktail created by mixologist extraordinaire Cris Dehlavi at M Restaurant (there will be a non-alcoholic drink option available for those under 21 or who do not wish to consume alcohol).

The All Dessert Food Tour starts at Pistacia Vera at 2.30pm on Saturdays and will last approximately 3 hours. Please check the calendar for availability. The cost is $55 per person. Columbus Food Adventures: Taco Truck Tour – Columbus, Ohio

Taco trucks serve up far more than just tacos, and nobody knows Columbus’s expansive taco truck scene better than Columbus Food Adventures. This van tour will explore the taco trucks of the west side, taking you to some of our favorites and providing you with the best of Mexican food in Columbus. Each stop includes a tasting, and this favorite Columbus tour is structured with an emphasis on individual truck specialties, as well as the diversity of regional cuisine found at these trucks. We don’t mean to brag (or maybe we do!), but this tour has been regaled in local papers as a unique Columbus attraction and is our most popular tour.

If you want to find out what the buzz has been about, or want to learn more about authentic Mexican food, this is the tour for you. This unique city tour is suitable for those who have never visited a taco truck, as well as those who are looking to explore new trucks and dishes. My Bicyclette: Tastes of Montreal Bicycle Tour – Montreal, Canada

Enjoy a casual three-hour insightful and tasty orientation of Montreal (regional product tastings included in price).   Bike past prominent sites, hot hangouts, main drags and famous back alleys.

Price: $55.00 / person – includes: guide, bicycle, helmet, map & tastings.  Group rates available for groups of 5+.

Time: The ‘Tastes of Montreal’ bicycle tour runs daily from 10 am to 1 pm, with guaranteed departures every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning from April 15th through to October 31st, 2012.   Other days of the week available upon request.

Approximate distance of tour:  18 km of casual riding.  Tour includes tastings of local delights at quaint in-store locations / top-notch cycling equipment / accredited city guide / map / bottle of water.

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT FOR THE TOURS?

YES.  Participants should be 13 years and older.  Participants should be comfortable riding a bicycle.  For younger riders, we suggest booking a very well priced customized tour – which, takes the pressure off having to keep up with a larger group.  That being said, this tour is rated “easy-going” and includes several stops along the way.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

My Bicyclette offers a 100% refund on all tours if the reservation is cancelled more than 24 hours in advance. We do not offer refunds for any reason once we are within 24 hours of the scheduled tour.  In the case of “bad” weather (where riding becomes dangerous), My Bicyclette will be happy to offer a RAIN DATE or a refund.  We want you to ENJOY your Montreal riding experience and will not ask you to ride in a downpour.

DO WE GO INSIDE THE MUSEUMS AND MONUMENTS?

NO.  Your guide will be happy to provide all the information you require to be able to get back to any of the points of interest you pass during your tour.  We encourage you to visit all the jewels this city has to offer however, three hours just isn’t enough time to be able to enter the museums.

WHERE DO I GO FOR MY TOUR?

All tours leave from My Bicyclette, which is located at 2985 C Saint-Patrick Street, Montreal, QC H3K 1B9 – steps south of the Atwater Market.  Please arrive 10-15 minutes ahead of the scheduled departure time.  Free streeet parking is available on St. Patrick Street and on Thomas Keefer Street.  Arriving on metro?  Stop: Lionel-Groulx is 500 m north of our location.

WHAT LANGUAGE IS THE TOUR IN?

The tours are offered in French and English.  Should you prefer a tour in Italian or Spanish please provide us with 72 hours request and we will do our best to accommodate your group (minimum 5 persons per group required).

WHAT IF I HAVE MY OWN BICYCLE?  CAN I USE IT?

YES.  You are more than welcome to use your own equipment.  The cost when you Bring-Your-Own-Bike is $47 versus $55.

Delhi Food Tours: Dinner Discovery Package – New Delhi, India

Delhi Food Tours (DFT) provides customized food tours that give you opportunity to explore a variety of Indian cuisines as they can only be found in the local eateries of New Delhi. Each tour consists of tastings at 4-6 different restaurants along with a Tea Tasting conducted under the guidance of a professional tea taster. The idea is to experience food from across India within the geographical confines of New Delhi.

DFT offers both lunch and dinner tours that are available 7 days a week.

Unlike typical tour companies, DFT conducts tours for groups of 2-8 people per meal with a minimum of one food guide per 4 people. Thanks to our focus on small groups; tours are customized on the basis of spice tolerance, allergies, and sensitivities of each guest. All tours are conducted by Prashant and/or Ayesha personally (refer to the ‘Meet the Foodaholics’ page).

This dinner tour is all about experiencing Delhi by night. While some of our preferred venues are similar to those of our Discovery Lunch Package, there are a few places included here that are only open at night. Here you can experience mouth watering kabab rolls, cooked on a charcoal grill served in open air seating, Egg paranthas (handrolled unleavened bread) from Delhi’s famous roadside parantha guy, mouth watering biryani cooked and served in sealed claypots, Delhi’s famous butter chicken and Dal Makhani, vegetarian snacks from West India and Sweets from everywhere!

This tour takes approximately 2-3 hours. Subject to your location, we will pick you up at 7 PM.

Pick up/drop from within South and Central Delhi (except Karol Bagh): This tour costs Rs. 4000 per person which is approximately US$ 80. This includes transport, food and non-alcoholic drinks.

Pick up/drop from anywhere in Gurgaon or Noida: This tour costs Rs. 5500 per person which is approximately US$ 105. This includes transport, food and non-alcoholic drinks.

The fixed price includes unlimited food, soft drinks, bottled water, hand sanitizer, wet wipes and transport (subject to location).

Guidelines for the tours:

  • All prices include transport. Our luxury Martinborough food and wine tour is for two to four guests only, for a relaxed and personal experience. This gourmet tour takes us by car with your Zest driver/guide around the small towns of the south Wairarapa: exploring the pretty historical township of Greytown and the celebrated Martinborough wine village. Our focus is both fine food and wine, as we savour tastes of both from specialty producers. We’ll go where few visitors can, up close, meeting innovative people dedicated to being the very best they can be with their premium boutique brands. In a beautiful pastoral setting, big skies and open spaces give way to small, attractive Victorian townships with their own charm. Daily by arrangement, including pick up and return from an agreed central Wairarapa location or local train, 9.30am – 4:00pm weekdays and 11am – 5.15pm weekends.

f you are staying in Wellington, which is just 1.25 hrs from Martinborough, we suggest taking the train up to the region for the start of your tour.  We can deliver return train tickets to you wherever you are staying in central Wellington the day before your tour, with a letter and clear directions about which train to take. Our local Zest Guide will meet your guests at Featherston train station.

Mon-Fri: Train departs Wellington Railway Station at 8.25am and arrives at Featherston Railway Station at 9.22am.
On return the train departs Featherston at 4.20pm, arriving in Wellington at 5.19pm

Sat –Sun: Train departs Wellington Railway Station at 9.55am and arrives at Featherston Railway Station at 10.52am
On return the train departs Featherston at 5.26pm, arriving in Wellington at 6.25pm
