Learn about the history and health benefits of chocolate, and the history of the city of Philadelphia and the neighborhoods we visit, as you savor America’s favorite flavor, and walk off the calories. Route

Our routes go through the vibrant Center City and Rittenhouse Square neighborhoods:

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:45 pm: Famous 4th Street Cookie Company, Chocolate By Mueller, Pennsylvania General Store, Jake’s Sandwich Board, Marcie Blaine Artisanal Chocolates, and Capogiro Gelato.
  • Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:45 pm: Famous 4th Street Cookie Company, Chocolate By Mueller, Pennsylvania General Store, Marcie Blaine Artisanal Chocolates, and Capogiro Gelato
  • Saturdays at 10:45 am: Famous 4th Street Cookie Company, Marcie Blaine Artisanal Chocolates, Teuscher Chocolates of Switzerland, John & Kira’s, and Capogiro Gelato.
  • Saturdays at 2:45 pm: Famous 4th Street Cookie Company, Pennsylvania General Store, Marcie Blaine Artisanal Chocolates, Teuscher Chocolates of Switzerland, and Capogiro Gelato.
  • Sundays at 11:45 am: Famous 4th Street Cookie Company, Pennsylvania General Store, Marcie Blaine Artisanal Chocolates, Teuscher Chocolates of Switzerland, and Capogiro Gelato.
  • Sundays at 2:45 pm: Famous 4th Street Cookie Company, Pennsylvania General Store, Marcie Blaine Artisanal Chocolates, Teuscher Chocolates of Switzerland, and Capogiro Gelato.

Routes are subject to change due to store hours, etc.

Walking level: Weekday tours involve an easy walk while weekend tours involve an intermediate level of walking.

Meet

Meet at Reading Terminal Market, at 12th Street and Filbert, outside under the Reading Terminal sign, across from Maggiano’s and the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown (map). Please note that tours do not end where they start, but end near Rittenhouse Square. Our Tourguides can point you in any direction you need to go after the tour!

Cost

$40 per person for a public tour, $60 per person for a private tour. (Prices include chocolate!) Group rates are available. Advance registration, please. Food City Tours – NoLIta: Eat A Bite of Ethnic New York

Discover the history and some of the best foods you’ve ever had in one of Manhattan’s trendiest and most diverse neighborhoods, on the NoLIta: Eat A Bite of Ethnic New York tour.  This compact area, nestled between Little Italy, Chinatown and SoHo is chock full of quaint, small streets, a wide variety of ethnic foods, and interesting architecture. This area used to be part of the Lower East Side, and today has some of the chicest shops in the city.

Sample a wide variety of sweet and savory foods including several from this list:

What Is Not Included?
You must provide your own transportation to and from the tour.

Bottled water is not included. If you bring your own bottle, you will be able to fill it at certain sites.

Food City Tours – Craft Beer & Artisanal Cheese

During this entertaining and delicious 2-hour Craft Beer & Artisanal Cheese adventure in Old City, a fun and knowledgeable food & beer pro will introduce you to 8 Craft Beers in one of the city’s best microbreweries, and a decadent tasting of 4 Artisanal Cheeses in a boutique cheese shop.

You’ll enjoy 8 distinct craft beers–each brewed on-site–representing a vast range of styles. During the tasting, Eric Matzke (one of the owners of City Food Tours) will share some fun facts about how beer is made, the quirky stories behind each brew you taste, and pairing suggestions. Samples of malted barleys and hops will also be available to smell and taste. Everyone is welcome to ask questions.

In a European-inspired cheese shop, we’ll treat you to a sumptuous tasting of 4 fantastic imported and farmstead cheeses. In addition to tasting, we’ll share the inside scoop on how cheeses are made, the 7 groups of cheeses, and answer any questions guests may have.

Not just for beer lovers! With 8 very different beers to taste, even those who aren’t beer fans will taste brews that they like.

Perfect for individuals, couples, and out-of-town guests! Great for birthdays, anniversaries, dates, and kicking off a night out on the town!

With less than 15 minutes of walking, this event is relaxing and enjoyable for guests of any ability.

This is a tasting adventure, not a full meal. All guests must be at least 21 years old.

City Food Tours – Decadent Gourmet

Treat your taste buds to this 2.5-hour Decadent Gourmet tasting adventure in the heart of Philadelphia! Your friendly and knowledgeable guide will introduce you to a heavenly trio of decadent treats at three of Philly’s best hidden gems.

Your tour begins at the city’s best gourmet market with a cheese tasting. We’ll share the inside scoop on how cheese is made, introduce you to 4 fantastic farmstead and imported cheeses, and answer all of your questions about selecting and serving cheeses!

Your guide will then escort you to a tea tasting like nothing you’ve experienced before. In the relaxed and modern setting of Philly’s premier tea salon, you’ll taste 4 superior teas that will leave you feeling relaxed and recharged. We’ll share some fun facts about how tea is made and answer all your questions. (On Sundays, tea is replaced with a chance to test your taste buds during a blind tasting of 6 amazing examples of luscious gelato and sorbetto.)

The grand finale to your adventure is a chocolate tasting at a very popular European-inspired chocolate café. We will explore how chocolate is made as we taste a wide variety of chocolate pieces that includes white, milk, dark, varietal chocolate, as well as a decadent chocolate truffle. (On Saturdays, chocolate is replaced with a chance to test your taste buds during a blind tasting of 6 amazing examples of luscious gelato and sorbetto.)

On the Taste of Northern Liberties tour, eat your way through one of Philly’s undiscovered foodie meccas on this 2 ½ -hour tour that includes tasty treats at 5 fantastic hotspots as well as the inside story about some local architectural gems. Your foray into NoLibs will undoubtedly introduce you to your new favorite haunts! This adventure is served up with a generous helping of humor and a side of neighborhood history.

Come hungry! This tour will bring you to 5 great eateries, including:

This fun and delicious tour takes place in the heart of Philadelphia and includes 6 stops, more than 2 hours of indulging and less than 30 minutes of walking. Make room, this is not only a tasting adventure, but a meal!

Get the inside scoop on Philly’s food history with quirky stories about how some of these iconic foods came to be, and walk away with food in your tummy and some fun tips about the best places to eat like a Philly local. This tour is served up with a generous side of fun, Philly history, and a helping of beautiful architecture that includes an upclose look of City Hall–the second largest municipal building in the country!
