In Tokyo and Kyoto, learn how to shop for Japanese ingredients and how to prepare and present typical Japanese dishes and seasonal specialties. Experience a variety of types of cuisine, from authentic Japanese home cooking, to refined kaiseki and Zen vegetarian temple cuisine. Tour local food markets and specialty shops selling Japanese knives, lacquerware, ceramics, tofu, miso, noodles, tea, sweets, sake and more. After Kyoto, enjoy a luxurious night at an exclusive hot springs ryokan in Hakone. Private touring also includes visits to the most interesting temples, shrines, gardens and small museums in each location.
