Food Carts Portland: Food Carts Tour – Portland, OR

Have you ever wanted a tour of the carts?

Have questions about Portland’s Food Cart scene that you want answered?

Want to eat at some of Portland’s best carts at the recommendation of Food Carts Portland?

Now you can. We offer tours of the carts hosted by Brett Burmeister, owner and managing editor of Food Carts Portland. Brett has been chronicling and tracking the food carts since 2008 and has become the defacto food cart ambassador for Portland. Portland Walking Tours: Epicurean Excursion – Portland, Oregon

A unique and delicious walking tour where you’ll taste the foods, sip the drinks, meet some artisans & vendors in their shops – while exploring the lively Pearl District. Portland has become a go-to destination for people who love to eat and we’re the ones who will show you why. Each tour is limited in size so the experience is small and intimate.

Even though you’ll sample dozens of taste & sips on any given tour, it’s more than just hitting those numbers; it’s all about understanding what makes up the food that satisfy us. While having fun, you’ll also achieve an honorary diploma of culinary knowledge as you experience first hand (or should we say “first mouth”) how fortunate we are to “eat local” and how this locavore philosophy is driving Portland’s exciting food scene. Most importantly, we’ll slow you down and guide you as you experience the smells, textures, and tastes that every item brings.

Our Epicurean Excursion changes regularly, but one thing’s for certain, you will sample from the best local artisan items that Oregon has to offer. The tour typically visit between 8 and 10 different local vendors and artisan producers in under 3.5 hours. And since we offer the tour daily at 10 AM and again at 2 PM, how do you know which tour time is for you? Simply said, the morning tour is completely different from the afternoon tour. Lots of our guests take both tours on different days just to experience the same fun, but getting to visit new spots and try different food and drink all over again.

These are the things you’ll discover with us:

  • The F.L.O.S.S. philosophy – Fresh, Local, Organic, Seasonable, and Sustainable.
  • Portland’s Liquid Assets (microbrews, wines, distilled spirits, coffees, teas, olive oils, handmade sodas, and – of course – we’ll be drinking real rainwater).
  • Slowing down to experience and relearn how to interpret and enjoy appearances, smells, tastes, mouthfeels, and aftertastes – Like a wine tasting, we’ll guide you through the process of renewing all five senses with food and drink.
  • Slow Food Movement – why Portland is the U.S. epicenter of this worldwide movement
  • The inside story of the Pearl District – from how it was named two times by the same person to its transformation from an unattractive industrial area into an eclectic blend of condominiums, galleries, boutiques, cafes, and restaurants.
