Food Lover Tour: Tapas Tour – Barcelona, Spain

Reviewed by FoodTourFinder!
See our review in the Comments section

We have all tried to find “the” place to eat—where the locals go, yet undiscovered by the tourists, where it’s possible to order like the locals and enjoy a delicious meal that it would be nearly impossible to discover on your own. This sensation of being away from home and yet a part of the local scene is what our “TAPAS LOVER Tour” is all about.

The Food Lover Tour, as the name suggests, is first and foremost a tour created for lovers of good food—‘foodies’ wishing to explore the local cuisine who want to enjoy their stay in Barcelona while having fun and avoiding the typical tourist traps. Where the locals go, we go! This tapas tour is a very laid back experience with a few stops including a gastronomic dinner in the local and most loved areas in Barcelona. You’d like to know where we go and what we eat? Come and join us on the Tapas Lover Tour.

We partner with a very small group of tapas restaurants that we believe are serving the best tapas—hot and cold appetizers and snacks—in Barcelona. On this tour, we will enjoy exclusive visits to bodegas, taverns and restaurants that offer sensational traditional foods and wines popular with the local community.

Local Experience Guaranteed, Including a Gastronomic Dinner

The first stop takes place in a local “after hour bar/restaurant” very well-known by the people of Barcelona for its good atmosphere; this is where we will start our tour with a few appetizers and drinks. Here, we’ll familiarize you with the basics of our culture’s approach to dining.

At our second stop we’ll continue enjoying appetizers, but these will be quite different from our first stop. We’ll taste succulent, heartier tapas paired with typical drinks that form the identity of our Spanish and Catalan culture and are very appreciated among the locals.

The final tapas experience is a proper gastronomic and gourmet dinner. The Food Lover Tour has been granted access to some of the “most coveted” and “must see” restaurants in town. Sit down, relax and enjoy a true culinary adventure for foodies, including the best fresh local foods, seasonal meals, wine pairings and great company. Time to enjoy! Welcome to Barcelona and welcome to the Tapas Lover Tour!

Vancouver Food Tour: Gastown Tasting Tour

Taste and sip through the historic Gastown district, Vancouver’s most vibrant restaurant scene and Canada’s cocktail capitol. Expect award- winning restaurants, inventive cocktails, eccentric personalities, and inspiring decor.

We begin our evening at a proper craft cocktail bar with old-world charms. Decked out in vests and ties, the expert barkeeps shake up classical cocktails while expanding on the history and techniques. Time- honoured canapés are served, each with a story of its own. The interactive and bartenders have much knowledge to impart about the art of imbibing.

When your appetite is fully tickled, sample 3 BC wines alongside local charcuterie and farm cheeses from an ever-changing chalkboard menu. Nearby BC farms produce award-winning meat and cheese products that cannot be missed.

Then hop a few steps over to a modern, Barcelona-inspired taberna. Entice your tastebuds with innovative, Westcoast inspired tapas and pintxos that pushes the envelope. We pair a sherry sample with the intricate small-bites for an even richer experience.

Take a stroll in the neighbourhood and become acquainted with the hottest restaurants, hidden cocktail nooks, and hole-in-the-wall establishments.

More About This Program

With its outdoor cafés and wide strolling boulevards, Barcelona can seem the quintessential relaxed Mediterranean seaport. But the city’s high-energy soul shines through as you take in its eclecticism – from the famous abundance of the Boquería market to the spare art of a well-made tapa, from the curvaceous houses Gaudí designed to Miró’s quirky paintings, and from the elegant shops of the Eixample to the hip studios of the Ribera, this is one imagination-inspiring place.

A perfect short stay in Barcelona includes strolls through its emblematic markets and gourmet shops. This city’s purveyors fanatically curate superb collections of everything from cava, chocolates, and dried fruits to cheeses, acorn-fed Ibérico hams, and salt cod.

We’ll also take you on two real tapeos contrasting rustic and refined renditions of Barcelona’s best small plates. We’ll book those who want a hands-on experience in a cooking class that features the seafood paellas most beloved on the Catalan coast. (For those who’d rather kick back than cook, we’ll arrange a luxurious seafood lunch on the beach instead).

Art and architecture are the other not-to-be-missed ingredients in a perfect short stay here. You’ll take in the city’s Roman walls, medieval churches and mansions, and cobblestone squares as you stroll the Gothic Quarter. And you’ll learn about Gaudí’s iconoclastic masterpieces and how they shaped the Eixample in the company of an expert guide. A driving tour for views from Parc Guëll and overlooking the port from Montjuïc, where you’ll stop in at the Fundació Miró, points up the playful juxtaposition of tradition and innovation that define the city.

This is a luxurious three-night, four-day immersion in the best of Barcelona’s culture and cuisine. It includes lodging in a luxury 4-star hotel, tickets to Gaudí’s Casa Milà, plus the Miró and Picasso museums, expert guiding through Barcelona’s moderniste Eixample and Old City neighborhoods, with stops at markets, and good eats (and cooking) that provide a real introduction to Catalan cuisine. Plus a bit of free time armed with insider tips on enjoying more restaurants, delving into the city’s art collections, or browsing its stylish shops.

The trip price covers double occupancy accommodations, all the meals, touring, and transport as outlined.

(You will not need or want a car in Barcelona, so if this tour is part of a larger driving trip for you, we’ll recommend garages to park in for the duration.)
